You have spoken and we have delivered! After extensive user feedback that included focus groups, surveys and interviews, we have released v1.0 of Cloud-A for teams. This is a free functionality that will allow Cloud-A user account admins to invite their project team members and issue roles with varying access capabilities. We see this functionality working especially well for:
Development and Operations teams
Where multiple team members are working on different projects and/or clients. Each team member will have their own username and password, rather than sharing one set of credentials for an entire team. Having identified that many development teams have limited operations resources, we feel that this is a step in the right direction towards marrying Dev and Ops together into one, unified and collaborative team.
Some clients are self-sufficient and can perform several dashboard related tasks themselves.
Cloud-A team functionality will provide service providers with a great amount of flexibility, allowing their clients to have varying amounts of access to their Cloud-A infrastructure for these tasks.
Teams will have the ability to create accounts for independent contractors or specialists who need dashboard access for a given project temporarily. No longer will you have to share your username, password and billing information with resources external to your company.
Here is a tutorial on how to use the new team functionality.
Refreshed Look for Dash and Client Portal
You will noticed a much cleaner looking Cloud-A client portal and dashboard featuring our new iconized Cloud-A logo. You will also notice that there is now a “Team” tab in the client portal.
Navigating the Team Page
Selecting the “team” tab in the client portal will take you to the team page where you can send invitations for team members to collaborate on a given project and manage their permissions.
Send a Team member invitation
To send an invitation to collaborate on a project select “Invite User.” Fill out the team members email address, and select the level of access and permissions that you will allow them.
The team lead is the administrator of the account who has full client portal and dashboard access. This level of access is the same as the traditional Cloud-A client portal and dashboard access. This profile is designed for a development team lead, operations team lead, a technical project manager or service delivery manager.
The billing profile will allows client portal access only. This profile is designed for the team management who would want access to invoicing and billing information, but not access to the dashboard to manage infrastructure. This profile is ideal for a financial controller, project manager, accountant or financial executive.
The ops profile allows dashboard only access, with no access to the billing an?d usage information in the client portal. This profile is designed for developers or operations staff who need infrastructure level access only.
Team Authorization Email
Your team member will receive an email with instructions on how to accept the invitation. The team member will need to follow the link in the email. Please note that the team member in this demo already has an existing Cloud-A username and password.
Join the Team!
Once your team member has followed the link in the email, he/she will need to select the “Join the Team!” button.
Your new team member will need to confirm their Cloud-A password before access to the team account is granted.
Access New Permissions
In this example, we granted the new team member with dashboard access only.
We feel as though Cloud-A Team Functionality v1.0 is the first step in the right direction for simplifying cloud infrastructure-as-a-service for highly effective development and operations teams. We plan on expanding on this functionality to make Cloud-A a no-brainer for teams to collaborate and ship and manage world class cloud applications. Stay tuned for new team functionalities which will be launched very soon.
